About Dr. Roberts

Dr. Jennifer Roberts is a board certified psychiatrist specializing in treating young adults, older adolescents, mothers, and those who suffer with depression, anxiety, in relationships, and working through trauma.  She embraces a holistic approach, and believes that every patient benefits from mindfulness, in addition to any pharmaceutical treatment.  She offers medication evaluations and management with optional genetic testing, psychotherapy, and enjoys helping her patients in creative ways, including walking sessions, yoga practice, guided meditations, visualization, and using written exercises and art when appropriate.

Dr. Roberts grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and graduated college from UC Santa Cruz.  She began her research career at Children’s Hospital in Oakland and earned her medical degree at the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.  She completed her psychiatry residency training at Los Angeles County USC Medical Center, where in addition to working with diverse populations and gaining expertise in psychopharmacology, she excelled in psychotherapy, including expert training in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) at Harbor UCLA Medical Center.  She also completed training in child and adolescent psychiatry at Cedars­ Sinai Medical Center, and in using evidence­-based complementary medicine with the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine. 

Her current studies include the Nutritional Psychiatry Program through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute, Radiant Body Yoga teacher training, and becoming a certified Heart Math+ practitioner. She also remains an active reader in medical and integrative psychiatry journals. 

Dr. Roberts has presented research internationally, and enjoyed teaching medical students and residents as adjunct faculty at USC Keck School of Medicine.  In addition to private practice, she has worked in high level positions at residential treatment centers throughout California, including two roles as acting Medical Director at Clearview Women's Center, a residential DBT program in Los Angeles, and Newport Academy, a dual diagnosis residential treatment program for adolescents in Northern California.  Dr. Roberts recently left positions on staff with Evolve Treatment Centers and Clear Recovery Center, and offers expert consultations and training to other mental health and wellness providers regularly. 

Along with extensive expertise and a high level of commitment, what sets Dr. Roberts (Dr. Jeni) apart from her colleagues is her warm relaxed demeanor and accessibility, which contribute to the wellbeing of her patients.  She prefers to work collaboratively, and sees each person as the unique individual that they are, with special gifts and struggles that require personalized care plans.  There is no one-size-fits-all to mental wellness.  Dr. Roberts truly wants you to enjoy your visits and your treatment.
